Haiti - Day 5

Last Day On Site!

Day 5, June 29, 2011, Pétionville, Ouest, Haiti

Dear Friends and Family,
Whew!  We concluded our last day of hard labor yesterday afternoon.  We look very happy in the group photo.  We took cold "birdbathhttp://www.warnermemorial.org/uploads/Steve_Day_5.jpg" showers (cup and a bucket), did laundry in a big tub on the ground and hung clothes on lines to dry, and then went out to dinner with Delmas, Micheline, Mr. Abraham, and Peter at a Toftof restaurant in Pétionville.  Mark didn't get to go because he was sick for most of the day, with a fever above 102.  June was able to Skype Kaiser and talk with an advice nurse.  Amazing!  At the dinner, we learned from Mr. Abraham and Peter about what Peter has been doing and about developments over the years in Haiti.  More about that later.

This morning, Doug and Susan are wearing anti-seasickness patches behind our ears to prevent problems during the almost two-hour ferry boat ride to La Gonâve.  We'll shttp://www.warnermemorial.org/uploads/June_Skyping_Kaiser.jpgee Peter's work with agriculture, environment, and education there.  Sat. am early, we will fly from La Gonâve to the airport, where we hope we can navigate through the airport fast enough to make our flights.  We have been told that checking in is more chaotic than arriving.
See you all soon!
