Commission to the Community

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

The Commission to the Community is the team at Warner whose primary focus is mission.  We work to promote peace, justice and environmental stewardship through advocacy, monetary support and direct action.

  • In God’s service, we administer the funds designated for benevolence in the church's yearly budget as well as additional money raised through mission fund raisers and grants.
  • We support feeding programs, missionaries and their work, and publicize the needs of our neighbors near and far.
  • We work to promote peace, justice, and environmental stewardship through advocacy and direct action.
  • We always strive to interpret our activities to the Warner Congregation and to the Session so that we may grow as one.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

"Empowered by God’s spirit and grace, we partner with our congregation in service to the world."

SCRIPTURE PROVIDES THE CONTEXT FOR OUR MISSION

“... and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8

...Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?” And the king will answer them, “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” Matthew 25:37-40

Thus inspired, the Commission seeks to respond to God’s call to serve as peacemakers, to connect with, empower and equip ourselves and our neighbors - locally and throughout the world - to be God’s hands in the world.
