2010 Blizzards

Take a little trip in the Wayback Machine and remember some improbable recent history!

http://www.warnermemorial.org/uploads/2010_BLIZZARD_REFLECTING POOL.jpgNot so long ago, our area was buried and shut down for days by what has come to be known, at least according to Wikipedia, as the truly historic "North American blizzard of 2010".  Also known as "Snowmageddon" and "Snowpocalypse", the North American blizzard of 2010 was actually a series of three blizzards, February 5-6, February 9-10, and February 25-26, which dumped snow accumulations of 20" - 36" with drifts of up to 48".  These are staggering amounts of snow for an area normally paralyzed by a 2" snowfall and it was more snow than most natives had seen in their entire lives.  Prior to this no long time resident of the D.C. Metropolitan Area could have conceived of radio announcements later in the month calling for "only 12" of snow".

The video was shot on February 12, 2010, two days after the end of the "Second North American blizzard of 2010", while people were still digging out.  Ironically, the music was recorded back on the balmy day of September 22, 2009.
